Friday's preview

Effing great. Never rains any night I cover a high school football game until tonight, the coldest Friday night in the last two months. Sumbitch.

New York (6-5-1) at New Jersey (4-9-1), 7 p.m. EDT

No Zach Parise, no Martin Brodeur, who won't play tonight. The Devils have the Rangers right where they want them.

New York 3, New Jersey 1

Boston (7-2-0) at Washington (8-4-0), 7 p.m., NHL Network

Tuukka Rask ain't ever getting back into the lineup. What are the odds Tim Thomas shuts down the Capitals for a third time? No Johnny Boychuck, according to the Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa (which is one of the most awesomest names ever.) Boychuk was credited with helping shut down Alex Ovechkin. Translation: It's on like Donkey Kong.

Washington 4, Boston 2

Montreal (7-4-1) at Buffalo (3-8-2), 7:30 p.m., RDS

I'm not sure how it's possible to be worse than the Devils right now, but the Sabres are doing it.

Montreal 4, Buffalo 1

Carolina (6-6-0) at Florida (4-6-0), 7:30 p.m.

Jeff Skinner is not a bad hockey player. The 18-year-old has a team-best four goals (tied with Eric Staal) and 10 points. Also, where have you gone, Stephen Weiss?

Carolina 3, Florida 2

Calgary (6-6-0) at Minnesota (5-4-2), 8 p.m.

You know who's washed up? Jarome Iginla. (Bryan, sure you don't want to trade me Crosby for Iginla? Crosby sucks too.)

Minnesota 4, Calgary 2

Phoenix (4-4-3) at Dallas (7-4-0), 8:30 p.m.

Brad Richards (15 points) continues his push for a new contract in the offseason. I say trade Malkin for Richards and either Eriksson or Neal.

Dallas 4, Phoenix 3

Detroit (7-2-1) at Edmonton (3-5-2), 9 p.m.

This isn't really fair, is it?

Detroit 5, Edmonton 1

Pittsburgh (6-6-1) at Anaheim (5-7-1), 10 p.m.

The Penguins are coming off their worst game of the season. The Ducks, their best. Yeah. Is it baseball season yet?

Anaheim 5, Pittsburgh 2
