The man with no name once again joined me to watch the Wild lose to the Blues.
The Good: Charlie Coyle. The Blues game plan was to take runs at the Wild's young players, and Coyle wasn't having any of it. He let the Blues players hit him - and bounce off.
The Bad: The second period. The Wild let the Blues control the play for the entire second period.
The Ugly: The refs. I don't normally whine about the refs, but this game was a new low. First, they missed the obvious high-stick on Koivu, then they gifted the Blues with a power play when Suter complained of a high hit. Worst of all, they let the Blues take runs at Brodin. When captain David Backed shoved Brodin into the boards in what can charitably be called a dangerous hit, the refs only gave him two minutes.
Bottom Line: I'm not blaming the refs for tonight's loss. The Wild had plenty of chances to turn it around on the power play, but for whatever reason, didn't come prepared for the Blues physical, aggressive game.
